Terry Evans wins CSS Web Design Contest: Pushing CSS
Terry Evans, Director of Vibe9 Design, has won a CSS web design contest called Pushing CSS
Here is the entry that won the contest.

The contest was held by a well known web designer and blogger – Rob Mientjes, and judged by some of the web standards community’s most well known designers: John Oxton, Jeff Croft, and Jina Bolton.
The rules of the contest were simple: everyone who entered had to use the same XHTML file and only 3 images – i.e. graphics. It was then up to each competitor to create the CSS file and the images, and use these to ‘dress up’ the XHTML to develop the most compelling design. To win, the design had to push the limits of CSS in terms of the types of CSS techniques used.
The contest could be compared to the CSS Zen Garden, whereby, web designers are encouraged to show the flexibility and beauty of CSS by all using the same XHTML code, with different combinations of CSS and graphical imagery to create highly unique and attractive designs. Except in the case of the Pushing CSS Contest, aside from the fact that it was a contest, there were limits on the number of images you could use; the XHTML file was also fairly limited in terms of the actual amount and type of content it contained, and there was also an emphasis on using the most cutting-edge CSS techniques. Therefore, designers were presented with a very unique challenge.

Surfers Take Note! if you are using Internet Explorer to view the contest entries, you are missing out on all the fun! Internet Explorer has very poor support for CSS3, therefore, you are much better off surfing with a web browser that does a good job supporting web standards, like FireFox, which is available for free download at www.getfirefox.com.
