Vibe9 Launches NIKE Sports Camps Website

We are proud to announce the unveiling of a new website for www.ussportscamps.com, in partnership with our good friends at OptiSite.com.

About US Sports Camps (USSC)

The official operator of Nike Sports Camps, US Sports Camps (USSC) is America’s largest sports camp network. During the summer of 2010 more than 50,000 US and international campers attended a US Sports Camps program.

About the Project

Vibe9 worked closely with OptiSite in order to create a highly user-friendly, engaging and easy to update website for USSC.

The Challenge

Perhaps the biggest challenge to creating this site is that there are over 400 camps in USSC’s network spread across the USA & Canada and on their old website it was very difficult to find the right camp for your child. Our challenge was ultimately to create a website that would ensure as few steps as possible would be required to find the right camp, and then once that camp was found make a lasting impact without overloading the user with information.

The Solution

To this end, one of the defining features of their new website is how it enables parents and campers to quickly and easily find camps using a variety of intuitive tools for search and navigation.

  • News blogs for each sport
  • Sports tips (with YouTube videos)
  • Super-clean, user- and search-engine friendly URLs

Putting it all together – the CMS

To be sure, managing all the hundreds of pages of content on a site like this is no small feat. Add to this the fact multiple sport managers are responsible for updating their own content and you have no small task for the CMS. On the ‘back-end’ (i.e. the CMS) of this site sport managers at USSC can easily update and add new content across the site, including all individual Camp pages using the CMS (ExpressionEngine) that we setup and customized extensively to suit their unique content editing needs.
